Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) is a rare but intense illness. It’s caused by a virus that can spread from animals, particularly certain bats, to humans. Once someone is infected, the disease can pass from person to person through close contact, like touching an infected person’s bodily fluids.

Watch for symptoms: fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dehydration, and rash. Patients also often have severe diarrhoea. The disease typically develops quickly and patients need to receive care at a hospital. Please make sure you get medical help as soon as possible. In severe cases, you may need a blood transfusion. Other treatment includes rehydration and treatment for specific symptoms.
