Welcome to the final stretch of your pregnancy. The third trimester often brings a mix of anticipation, physical changes, and important milestones. As your body prepares for birth and your baby continues to grow rapidly, it’s normal to experience new symptoms and questions. Understanding what to expect can help you feel more confident and prepared. Here are five key things to know about your third trimester.

  1. You will likely feel uncomfortable and worn out, and possibly anxious as labour approaches. This is completely normal.
  2. You should put on the most weight during this trimester. Your baby makes up the majority of this weight, along with amniotic fluid, the placenta, your breasts, blood, and your uterus.
  3. Thanks to your rapidly growing bundle, it’s probably difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position.
  4. Your lungs could be under pressure from the baby, which would make breathing more difficult.
  5. Braxton Hicks contractions might be felt (tightening of the muscles of the uterus). They do not indicate that labour has begun, so try to rest and relax and prepare for the real symptoms of labour.
