- Heartburn can usually be managed with over-the-counter (OTC) heartburn and acid digestion medication.
- Sit up straight and make a conscious effort to improve your posture.
- Instead of big meals, eat smaller, more frequent meals. Large meals put pressure on your stomach and make reflux more likely.
- Try to elevate your head by about 15–20 cm (using extra pillows or a wedge). This may stop stomach acid from flowing back.
- Quit smoking and cut back on alcohol.
