Parenting is rewarding, but it can also be demanding, unpredictable, and mentally draining. When you’re focused on caring for others, your own wellbeing is often the first thing to slip. The good news is that small, intentional actions can make a real difference to how you feel day to day. Here are five quick mental health boosts to help you reset, recharge, and cope better as a parent.

  1. It does take a village to raise a child, so ask for help when you need it. When friends and family offer to babysit or help with a birthday party or event, accept the help!
  2. You and your partner are a team. When everything feels overwhelming, do your best to steady each other.
  3. When possible, try to have a quiet start to the day, even if it’s only five minutes. Sit in silence before the house wakes up, take a few deep breaths, or sip your tea without scrolling.
  4. Instead of trying to juggle everything in your head, write it all down in one messy list – school reminders, grocery needs, work deadlines. Getting it out of your mind and onto paper can instantly make things feel lighter.
  5. Forget perfection. Choose one thing each day that you’ll do good enough instead of perfectly.
